Quickstart guide for MyTunesRSS
With the instructions on this page you should get MyTunesRSS up and running with minimal configuration. After getting started you should have a look at the configuration details for advanced features. While reading this guide you can always have a look at the detail pages for the configuration dialogs to see a screenshot.
First startup MyTunesRSS. You might see a welcome message and after a few seconds the main window will open. The main window contains buttons for the configuration dialogs. Each dialog can be sized an positioned individually. Both, the position and the size, are preserved for the next time you open the dialog.
Now go to the data sources dialog and add a new local data source. This can be either an "iTunes Music Library.xml" or "iTunes Library.xml" file or a folder containing your music. Then close the dialog using the close button or by pressing the ESC key.
Now go to the user configuration and add a user. Enter a name and password for the user and just enabled all permissions. Save the user can close the user list.
In the main window click the database update button. The update might take some time depending on the size of your iTunes library or the watch folder contents.
You need not wait for the update to finish and you can now start the server. If the server won't start the port might be occupied by some other process on your computer. In this case go to the server configuration and change the port from 8080 to anything else, e.g. try 9000, 9001, etc.
After the server has been started, open a browser on the same computer and enter "http://127.0.0.1:8080" in the address field. If you had to change the port in the previous step you have to use the new port here instead of 8080. After a few seconds you should see the MyTunesRSS login page. Enter the name and password of the user you created a few minutes ago.
After a successful login you can see the portal page where you can start exploring the web interface. The data is not complete until the database update has finsihed. You will see a warning message in the web interface if the update is still running. For best results you should now wait for the update to finsish.
