System requirements

100% pure Java

MyTunesRSS is 100% pure Java, i.e. it runs on any computer where Java 1.5 or better is available. On Windows platforms a native library for minimizing MyTunesRSS to the system tray instead of the task bar is automatically activated. For listening to your music all you need is a web browser if you are using the Flash player and any external player software otherwise.

Quicktime remote player

If you want to use the remote control feature of MyTunesRSS you need to install Apple Quicktime. On Mac OS X this is always installed correctly. On Windows you need to download and install Quicktime yourself if you have not already done so before. When installing Quicktime it installs the Java library into the currently active Java environment. If you update Java later you will end up with a Java environment missing the Quicktime library. In the Support and registration configuration dialog you can see in the system information if Quicktime was found on your system. If you have Quicktime installed but MyTunesRSS does not detect the Java environment you can simply try uninstalling Quicktime and installing it again. It should then update your current Java environment as necessary.

Client limitations

Some restrictions apply due to limitations of client devices. So the Nintendo Wii for example can play music through the Flash player only. On the Playstation Portable you can use RSS feeds only. The Flash player won't work here. The Flash player itself plays MP3 files only, so for other types like AAC you will need an external player or use the transcoding support in MyTunesRSS. Protected files from the iTunes Music Store can be played in iTunes only. The same probably applies to other protected media which need a special player (e.g. Windows Media Player).
